How It All Began
Emily dedicated most of the current year gathering each Bonsly card from 2007 available on the market. These holes are intended to aid growth, so much so that growers advise one another to create openings in their containers if they don't already have one. Bonsai can also be placed in shallow containers lacking drainage, referred to as suiban, and the collected moisture could aid caretakers style their trees to mimic nature vistas. Bonsly is the former, hence the hole.
Why Bonsly Stands Out
Despite this logical explanation, however, The Pokémon Company looks a bit overly focused regarding the hole in Bonsly. Even merchandise such as Bonsly plush toys make sure to include a hollow cavern at the bottom of this plant Pokémon. It makes no difference whether the portrayal of the Pokémon appears sad or at ease: It's going to show a hole. The hole is an intrinsic part in Bonsly's appearance. This specific Bonsly card became a meme within the community because of the famous hole, in addition to its unique position. The Collector's Passion
"When I saw this card on the list of these cursed cards, I felt I located my new favorite," Emily states in a message, adding that she felt astonished that she hadn't encountered it earlier. She'll be the first to tell you her passion for the Bonsly card is completely useless, yet that didn't stop her. The appreciation became a major fixation, as she acquired every Bonsly #71 card available to her. She quickly got into a routine of stopping by her favorite shop on a weekly basis, and became known by workers as the Bonsly collector. The store began reserving all incoming copies of Bonsly #71 that came in exclusively for Emily. Most of these cards go for a few dollars, she notes, calculating that her total expenditure is about $400 just on the binder alone.
Rising Prices
Currently, pristine the card may reach prices of nearly $15. While that's on the higher end, standard versions tend to cost four dollars or more. This rise in cost corresponds to the time Emily began her collection in earnest, though there are likely multiple reasons. Although the card is notorious in the community, her online content about it have also garnered millions of views. As news about this card keeps growing among more people, it is likely that the price of Bonsly #71 cards may continue to shoot up. Regardless, enthusiasts say that trading card game values are climbing this year across the board.
Unstoppable Determination
Emily remains undeterred, yet.
"The wonderful part is that certain fans and fans from her channel have mailed their own Bonsly cards to me to expand the set, and they will remain these Bonsly safe forever," Emily states. Rather than recoil in horror, fans feel admiration and motivation by this project.
